The 57th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 2nd May 1865 over the Rowley Mile, was Gladiateur (7/1), a bay colt by Monarque out of Miss Gladiator, owned by Count Frederic de Lagrange. The winner won by a neck in 1 minute 51 secs, with a neck back to the third. A field of 18 runners contested the race which was worth £5,100 (Equivalent to £596,700 in 2017)
